I saw a hummingbird this morning. It flew from a bird feeder to an adjacent tree as I passed on the way to the bus stop. It was tiny, not much larger than my thumb. If I have an effectively infinite amount of homework to do, then doing any finite portion of work w which is less than all of the work will yield w/∞ which clearly goes to zero. So, really, why bother?

I made the mistake of attempting to talk politics with the folks behind the Young Republicans table on campus today. Walked away feeling ill. It just saddened me.

Too unfocused to grade tonight. Edited the midterm for my students instead. Hope they're not annoyed at how late these assignments are getting back to them. This happened last quarter. Feh. Next time things will be different.

Now sleep.

Wow, papers take longer to write than I remember. I think this one is going to be late.

I can't find my box of screwdriver bits! I think I must have loaned them to someone because I can't find 'em anywhere. Really what I need is a tiny Torx bit, probably a 4 or 5 (6 is too big) and I'm on the verge of buying new ones because I can't find the ones I already own ( Read more... )
